First about Summer
conditions in the desert.
As I'm sure you've guessed, it's hot! :) . Midday temperatures
are 40-45c, which means no trekking in the middle of the day.
Instead, the days look something like this:
Rise very early, trek from 6:30-10:30am
Long midday break 10:30-3:30. Lunch main
meal of the day as we have lots of time to prepare it.
Trek 3:30-7:30pm, dinner & overnight.
Even avoiding the midday sun, you will
still need to pay a lot of attention to your health & fitness.
Eat well, and drink lots of water ideally with rehydration
salts in each bottle. Always wear a hat/scarf to keep the sun
off your head, and wear good trekking clothes that are light
but cover your skin & whisk away sweat – trousers much better
than shorts, long sleeves better than short.
